About the Event
A collateral effect of the current pandemic, COVID 19 is the resurgence of a particular brand of antisemitism: the age-old blaming of the Jews for the outbreak and spread of a terrible disease. In this presentation we will look at how Jews have been scapegoated, blamed for spreading diseases, throughout history. This collective blame resulted in mass murder, destruction of entire Jewish settlements, and often the exile of the entire Jewish population from lands which they peacefully inhabited for many centuries. Although, on a popular level this scapegoating was driven by superstition, for many kings and rulers this was also a convenient way of getting rid of their Jewish creditors.
Guests may register for this event! Zoom links will be emailed to registrants Oct. 17.
